Hope

February 2011

The first of my published paintings, featured in the book Loosely Speaking. This was drawn at a time in my life when I once again took a desperate chance at hope after it felt like there could be none left in the world. Just trying again after finding a glimmer despite all of the trauma and pain life had thrown at me

[ID: a digital drawing featuring myself, a fat white woman, here with long brown hair. The image is from above at a direct down angle. I have my right hand raised toward the camera and there is a monarch butterfly resting there. I am sitting in a wheelchair outside and have my left arm in a zebra patterned sling. I am wearing a bracelet with beads that say “Hope”]
